Horsemanship Lessons are focused on communication with the horse, body position and balance, and developing solid skills in the saddle. Most students are at least 6 and under 106 years old when they are ready to begin lessons. You may bring your own horse, or possibly use one of my horses. I offer private lessons, semi-private, and group rates. Some of the things covered are catching a horse, walking through gates, tying, grooming, tacking up and basic horse safety are covered to ensure a solid foundation on the ground, not just in the saddle. Mounting a horse, asking for movements, emergency preparedness and proper dismounting are just a few of the many things taught in the saddle. Starting young horses, to fine tuning the more advanced horse can be addressed as well. Working on getting and keeping a horse soft, and 'feel' for a willing partner. Trailer loading, spookiness, herd and barn sourness, aggressive behaviors, etc. are covered. I can teach you how to redirect your horses movement into a positive behavior, and help both of you overcome fears and habits that have been holding you back.

Roping Lessons and Cattle Work Beginner to advanced riders, and green to advanced horses are welcome to start roping and working with cattle all the way to advanced roping and cattle work. Learning to hold and swing a rope, distance and position are first taught on the ground. Entering and exiting the box, timing, and position are introduced after you are roping the dummy consistently. Some ranch throws are taught. Once in the saddle, we use a Hot Heels machine and or a calf sled to simulate the speed and action of a live steer. Live cattle are available and used when necessary. Cattle work is great for horses and riders to help develop a soft feel and to give riders more of a focus. Cattle work and roping is used in my program with young, just started horses, to older horses.
